Lakes n’Woods can also be the place where you learn a whole lot of new things. Accompanied by your host Mr. Johny (a planter by profession), you can see rubber trees being tapped, collected, and processed into rubber sheets. You must have heard of the traditional toddy, from coconuts, right? At Lakes n’Woods you will have the priviledge (a priviledge even most Keralites don’t have!) of seeing the process of obtaining toddy from coconuts. And if you feel your holiday is wasted if you haven’t mastered a new art, fear not because your hostess, Mrs. Seena (a teacher and a fabulous cook), will not tire from teaching you cooking, hand-embroidery, fabric painting, jewellery making and so on. And when you have learnt how to paint that fabric you can always celebrate with a fresh round of ripe fruits, taken from the backyard- jackfruit, water apple, breadfruit, mango, guava, chikku, to name a few. If fruits are not your style don’t worry because there are plenty of spices too – nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, tamarind and so on. And if you wish to take in the sweet and spicy life of Kerala in its entirety you may also want to celebrate with us the festival of Onam, swinging on swings, and feasting on feasts. Of course, the cultural dances and dramas may be staged, on request, especially for you.
